Lampe Gras is the original architect light. Designed in 1921 by Bernard-Albin Gras, these lamps quickly gained cult status with the French avant garde and intelligentsia. Designated a 'type-objet', that is, an object reduced to its pure function, by the French architect Le Corbusier, who used Lampes Gras in his own offices as well as many of his most famous projects, these lights were favorites of Matisse and Picasso, as well as the designer Eileen Grey and other well known modernist artists. Available in Brooklyn at Brook Farm General Store. From Remodelista.
